Structure

- Outer Layer: BOPET (Polyester Film)** High transparency, good gloss, puncture resistance, dimensional stability, printable, withstands external friction and printing.

- Inner Layer: PE (Modified Polyethylene Heat-Sealing Layer)** Heat-sealing layer, in direct contact with the container to achieve heat sealing; available in **Easy-peel** or **Lock-seal** versions.

> Process: Dry lamination/extrusion lamination bonds PET and PE together, belonging to **laminated film composite film

Core Performance:

1. PET Layer: High transparency, printability, tensile strength, temperature resistance, scratch resistance.

2. PE Heat-Sealing Layer: Wide heat-sealing window; easy-peel design peels cleanly without stringing residue; lock-on design provides a secure, leak-proof seal.

3. Optional Functions: Anti-fog, added EVOH high-barrier layer, food contact grade, printable patterns and barcodes.

Common Specifications Reference

- Heat-sealing conditions: Temperature 120-150℃, Pressure 3-6bar, Time 0.5-1s (easy-open model)

Main Applications

Roll-on sealing film for PET/PE food containers and trays: sealing trays for prepared dishes, fresh produce, salads, meat, dairy products, and medical devices; used in fully automatic sealing machines.

Note: PET/PE film **cannot be directly heat-sealed onto PP trays**; PP trays must use BOPET/CPP film.

How to Choose the Right PET/PE Composite Lidding Film ?

1.PET/PElidding film is only suitable for pallets with PE flanges (PET-PE co-extruded pallets, PE pallets); it cannot be used to directly seal PP pallets. For PP pallets, choose PET/CPP cover film.

2.Choose the sealing type: Easy-peel vs. Lock-seal (Dead seal)

① Easy-peel

- Peel strength: Commonly used: **3-6N/15mm**, peels cleanly without stringing or residue on the tray edge.

- Suitable for: Salads, fruits, pre-prepared dishes, ready-to-eat cold foods; manually torn by the consumer.

- Risk: Fluctuations in heat-sealing parameters can easily lead to **incomplete sealing and leakage**, or a seal that is impossible to peel off. Requires a film material with a wide heat-sealing window.

② Lock-seal (Dead seal)

- Peel strength: >8N/15mm, extremely strong seal; generally requires scissors to cut open.

- Suitable for: Products with broth, sauces, long-distance cold chain transportation, frozen products; leak prevention is a priority.

- Risk: Cannot be torn open by hand, poor customer experience; excessively high temperatures may tear the tray flange.

3. Barrier Performance (Shelf Life, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) Requirements)

1. **Standard PET/PE (without EVOH)**: High oxygen permeability, suitable for short shelf lives, no need for MAP: salads, fruits, short-term refrigeration, low cost.

2. **High Barrier PET/EVOH/PE**: Adds an EVOH barrier layer in the middle, used for MAP packaging, meat, seafood, cooked foods, extending shelf life; oxygen permeability can be specified according to requirements (e.g., OTR < 3cm³/(m²・24h・atm)), higher cost.

Note: PET/PE itself has relatively low barrier properties; for MAP, a multi-layer structure with EVOH must be selected.

4. Special Functional Requirements

- **Anti-fog**: Refrigerated and high-moisture foods, prevents condensation on the inside of the film, ensuring clear product visibility; essential for fresh produce and salad boxes.

- **Food Contact Compliance:** Requires food contact testing reports such as GB4806 and EU 10/2011.

- **Printing Requirements:** The outer BOPET layer should be ≥12μm thick for gravure printing; thinner PET layers are prone to wrinkling during printing.

- **Puncture Resistance:** For materials containing bones or hard ingredients, increase the overall thickness appropriately; choose 16-23μm PET.

- **Recyclability:** If the tray is rPET, a recyclable cover film structure is required.
